This Week

I had a bit of a brain freeze last night and didn’t check everywhere that I usually do.  So I’m adding a bit here and there–actually, once I looked, the only place that I’d missed that had events to list was Guilderland Public Library.

So, did you enjoy your day, moms?  When I went out to see a chick flick with the girls, the most admired gift was an adorable pin made out of a child’s artwork.

Speaking of kids’ artwork, I scored a vase from J and a swan from M.

Anyway, here’s the stuff I’ve found for this week (and don’t forget the What About TODAY? listings, of course):

Monday, May 10th:

• Dude, I’ve got nothing only two things.  I know:  I’m a little disappointed in me, too.  Maybe you could go grocery shopping?  That’s what I’m doing.  Or maybe you could spend sometime rooting around in your closet for the jackets, sweaters and mittens that you foolishly thought it was safe to put away?  Yeah, me too.  I am so bummed.
• At 11 am, there’s Toddler Time at the Guilderland Public Library.
• They’re also playing Monopoly at the Guilderland Public Library at 6 pm.

Tuesday, May 11th:

• At noon, check out a free Acoustic Blues Concert at Troy Music Hall.
• At 6 pm, the Geronimo Stilton Club meets at the Saratoga Springs Barnes & Noble.
• At 6:30 pm, Anime Club meets at Guilderland Public Library.
  
• At 7:30 pm, a Food Allergy Support Group meets at the  Bethlehem Public Library.

Wednesday, May 12th:

• From 10 am to 2 pm, they’re taking a Lake Ann Hike at Moreau Lake State Park. This isn’t for the little kids–you’re supposed to bring lunch or snacks for this long, moderate hike.
• At 4 pm, learn about composting at the Children’s Museum at Saratoga.
• From 6-8 pm at the Saratoga Springs Public Library, there’s a workshop on Bike Safety.  It’s geared to adult riders, ages 12 and up.
• At 6:30 pm, it’s Wii Wednesday for teens at  Guilderland Public Library.

Thursday, May 13th:

• At 10 am, they’re doing Early Explorers, a class for 3- to 5-year-olds at Moreau Lake State Park.
• At 10:30 am, there’s a Fish Tales program for 3- to 6-year-olds at the Children’s Museum of Science and Technology.  It’s $2/non-member, and pre-registration is required.
• From 10:30-11:30 am, there’s Little Wonders of Science program about zippers for 3- to 5-year-olds at the Schenectady Museum.  It’s free with admission, but you’re supposed to pre-register.  They’ll be doing this on Saturday morning, too.  I should that there are tons of kids’ projects on display right now as part of their Invention Convention.
• From noon to 3 pm, they’re taking a Potter’s Point Kayak Trip at Moreau Lake State Park.
• At 6:30 pm, it’s the American Girl Book Club at the Niskayuna Barnes & Noble.
• At 7 pm, there’s a Children’s Circle Storytime at Bethlehem Public Library.  Sign-up is required, and it’s designed for kids with special needs, but all are welcome.

Friday, May 14th:

• Wiggle and Giggle from 10-11:30 am at the Children’s Museum at Saratoga.  Free with admission.
• At 3 pm, it’s Teen Time at the  Bethlehem Public Library.
• From 3 – 6 pm, it’s the Commission on Economic Opportunity’s Annual Community Action Day and Spring Fling Block Party in Troy.  Entertainment, music, games, food.
• From 4-7 pm, the Children’s Museum at Saratoga is having a Parents’ Night Out for kids 3 and older.  $15/child, and pre-registration and pre-payment are required.  The kids will get pizza and you. . . will not have to eat pizza.  You’ll go someplace more exciting for dinner.
• St. Sophia’s Greek Festival begins at 6 pm today and continues through the weekend.  Food, entertainment, children’s rides. $3/grown up, kids 12 and under free.
• Author Emily Arnold McCully will be at the Guilderland Public Library with a program for families at 6:30 pm.  I was just saying the other day how much I love Mirette!
• At 7:30 pm, the Empire State Youth Orchestra is presenting a Jazz Ensemble Recital at the College of St. Rose.  $6/adult, $3/kid.
• They’re doing a Star Watch at 8:30 pm at Grafton Lakes State Park.
