New Mother in the Capital District? Click Here!

Hey! Congratulations on being a new mama! I hope that you’re doing well. I’ve gathered up some information that might be helpful for you.

I did two posts asking “Where Can You Take That Cute Teensy Baby?” Actually, I did them a while ago, and so some links probably need to be updated.

In this one, I talk about places to connect with other brand-new mamas, and in this one, I talk about general places where you can take your baby, because if you stay home all day, every day, you might go nutty. So, don’t do that.

Here are Favorite Breastfeeding Spots in the Capital District.

If you are feeling pathetic, perhaps my own pathetic new-mama stories will make you feel better? Here’s one from the Times Union On the Edge Blog.

I’m also putting my Pregnancy/New Baby section of the Big Ol’ List of Links below, because you’re tired, and I don’t want you to miss out because you’re too sleepy to explore everywhere.

Pregnancy/Brand-New baby Resources
Bellevue Woman’s Center (Niskayuna)
The Birth Place (Albany Medical Center)
Community Cradle
(referrals throughout Capital District)
Doula Network of the Capital Region

ICAN (Cesarean awareness, VBAC support)
Kellymom (internet site, breastfeeding help)

Finally, if you’re not doing okay–if you’re feeling crappy and miserable  and you don’t have the energy to figure something out that might be remotely helpful, email me and I’ll read it and send you sympathetic cyber-clucks or possibly point you in the direction of help. Not that I’m, like, a doctor/post-partum doula/therapist or anything. Just a concerned fellow mama.  –Katie
