Look, Everybody!

wggsFor the past few weeks I have been taking my just-enough-to-be-functional WordPress know-how and pulling it and stretching it like Silly Putty in order to help make a new website for the Working Group on Girls of Schenectady, Inc.

I’ve been volunteering as a muse for a while (as you know), and these days I am secretary of the board and I help with social media.  We had a pretty tragic-looking website, from back when websites looked a lot like photocopied sheets of paper. . . remember that? So it’s been on our list of things to do to revamp the website and to start distributing a newsletter, both which are, well, they’re what I do.

Anyway, there’s been quite a bit of labor involved. It’s been surprisingly fun, actually. I’ll say something like, “Gosh, I wish I could figure out a way to put that great video on the home page,” and then I try to do it and fail repeatedly, and then I finally figure it out and I feel absolutely brilliant and triumphant. There is still some tinkering to be done, but it’s officially out in the world. So yay.

Go look at the website, which is here: http://www.wggschenectady.org/

And if you poke around enough, you can find the newsletter I created, too, and you’ll find the video that I absolutely did not create but that I did figure out how to put in the bottom-right corner of the home page.

Honestly?

I’m feeling like a rockstar.

If you find any typos or errors, please message me privately and generously pad your critiques with effusive praise.

And if you’re interested in becoming a muse, an orientation is coming up soon. Or you could sign up for the newsletter. Also, you could join me for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres next week. See the details on the new (fabulous) website.

The website and newsletter looks great! I think every town could use an organization like this one. Good job Miss Katie.
