Kids Eat Free in the Capital District

All right, all right, people have asked for the post enough times that I finally had to suck it up and put it together.  Here’s a list of restaurants that do “Kids Eat Free” or something else special for kids.  Of course, we’d all love to hear about other great deals.

Local Restaurants:

  • Forno Bistro in Saratoga
  • At LT’s Grill in Niskayuna, kids under 9 eat free with a parent.
  • At McIntyre’s Pub in Watervliet, you can receive one free kid’s meal item per adult entree on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday nights.
  • Pancho’s Mexican, which has locations in Colonie & Troy, has 99-cent kid’s meals on Tuesdays.  They’ve also got online coupons.
  • The Scotia Diner doesn’t have a discount, but a face-painting clown is there on Thursday nights.

National or Regional Chains

  • Chipotle just introduced a kid’s menu, and to celebrate, they’re letting kids eat free on Sundays in July.  Ummm, why didn’t anyone alert me?  At one of the locations, an employee had the vague impression that this offer might be extended (please, please, please?).
  • At Denny’s on Wolf Road, kids eat free Tuesdays & Thursdays from 4-10 pm.  In East Greenbush, it’s Tuesdays & Saturdays from 4-10 pm.
  • Fuddruckers on Wolf Road has free kids night on Thursdays.
  • At all IHOPs,  kids eat free from 4-10 pm every day, but 1) they have to choose an item from the kids’ menu and 2) it’s only 1 free meal per adult paid-for entree.
  • At Moe’s Southwest Grill, kids eat free on Sunday in Clifton Park & on Wolf Road, and on Wednesdays on Central Avenue.
  • Local Ninety Nine restaurants generally don’t offer kids eat free nights, except that Rotterdam said that they’d honor the Kids Eat Free offer on days when the Red Sox win.
  • At the Pasta Factory on Rte. 7 in Latham, kids eat free on Tuesdays, and in Clifton Park, it’s on Mondays.  Mr Twisty is in Clifton Park on Mondays, too.  In the past he’s been at Latham on Tuesdays–maybe he’s just taking the summer off?  When I called, they said that the official time was from 5:30-7 pm, but I’ve seen free meals served outside those times. . . .
  • At Pizza Hut dine-in locations, most do a deal on Tuesday nights:  buy an 8-cut pizza for the grown-ups, and 2 kids can each get an individual pizza for themselves.  It appears that you can actually order from home on-line just as you’re leaving the house and show up to have pizza ready for you, although you might call ahead–staff had different answers when I asked about this.

Some of my local friends had suggested Hot Harry’s or Homestyle. . . alas, they don’t do kids eat free.

I don’t know if it was a mistake… but we went to the Latham Pasta Factory a few weeks ago on a Tuesday, bought two adult meals and were still charged for the kid’s meal. It was definitely kid’s night (the magician/balloon guy was there), but we still had to pay for the meal.

    LTs is only Tue nights.
Only see the $15 3-course meal at Il Forno…is there something else?
There is a Panchos in Troy also. Not sure if they have the same deal but they are owned by the Colonie location owners. Kraft-like mac n cheese is on the kid’s menu in case your little ones are adventurous eaters!
Marcella’s in Glenville has free kid’s meals on Tuesdays. A drink is included.

Arizona Pizza Co in Clifton Park used to have free kid’s meals once a week but starting TODAY until LABOR DAY they are offering 1 free kid’s meal w/an adult entree. Comes w/a fountain drink – no milk or juice. Cannot use a coupon on the adult meal at the same time.
Friendlys – all of them – $1.99 kid’s meals EVERY Wednesday.

I’ve had to remind the cashier that it was “kids eat free” night on two occasions at the Pasta Factory. And, Mr. Twisty was certainly missed last time we were there on a Tuesday (Latham).

JoMarie – I didn’t realize Pasta Factory had a website – my husband just looked it up and apparently it does say that kids eat free on Tuesdays. I am disappointed we got charged but will definitely have to tell the cashier next time.

I was recently approached by some “sports” parents about doing a facebook “blog” about where kids eat free or other discounts at local area restaurants….I don’t want to re-do what has already been done, Is there anyway you can make a facebook page for parents to “like” that they can get to quickly on there phones…..please. Oh and parents are wanting info for “older” kids too, like 13-16 range, like where they can get quick take out or good curb side service…. hey please let me know, if you don’t have the time I will pick up where you have left off….Thanks!

  7. @Sherri, Well, this post is from a while ago, so I fear that it’s pretty out-of-date. You can “like” Capital District Fun on Facebook (click the little icon floating into the corner). I think that you’re inspiring me to create an updated page for Kids Eat, which means that if you pulled up Capital District Fun you could pop over to the Kids Eat Free list from a link over on the right hand side. If you ARE gathering information, I’d love to hear about it. I did another post with some suggested ethnic restaurants–you can find it here: http://www.capitaldistrictfun.com/2010/06/19/local-family-friendly-restaurants-part-2-aka-the-rant/

  8. An updated “kids eat free or cheap” Hot List will be posted at Hulafrog.com/albany-troy-ny this week. Subscribe to the newsletters to be the first to know!
