Just Finished It’s A Wonderful Life
It was the girls’ first viewing. At the end, M said, “What about Mr. Potter? I wanted him to die.” “Yeah,” J agreed. “That would be good.”

Craft night at the elementary school. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I didn’t even volunteer or craft at this one, and I’m still exhausted.
I wanted to take a quick minute to tell you about one of my favorite fundraisers: Dining for Dollars. You sign up and someone delivers a lasagna dinner with bread, salad, and assorted other items to your door in time for dinner on Tuesday, December 11th, and then you mail a donation of whatever you … [Read more…]
Had to go buy some milk. Here are some of my random thoughts: I know that salted caramel is unbearably trendy right now, but I love it so. New product Wippity Wipe tells you that you can forget a spill ever even happened and makes me wonder why I can’t wippity wipe a couple of … [Read more…]
On Saturday I helped out with our annual Homemade Holidays program at church. Grown-ups made wreaths and there were plenty of simple-but fun crafts for everyone. Kids loved squeezing glitter paint onto glass balls. Glue and glitter made pinecones extra-special, and little circles of pipe cleaner made cute little stands. A lazy night for me, which means some random links for you. Here’s a c. 2-minute-long film called “Sensory Overload” that offers insight into how autism feels. It’s an interesting exercise in empathy, although it’s likely to give you a headache. I found it via Andrew Sullivan. Stroller traffic offers a list of Ten Blog … [Read more…]
Oh, man, life is good at our house! We’re having fun by building character. Because that’s how we roll. So this morning, J got a precious gift: the gift of teeth spacers. She tried to model them, and if you see a teensy weensy little blue shadow inside her mouth, those are the spacers. But … [Read more…]
So, did I tell you that I got sucked into the whole Elf-on-a-Shelf thing? I know! You never thought it would happen to me, right? I mean, I refuse a single evening of leprechaun mayhem, and now I’m sucked into an advent calendar’s worth of cheeky poses by a plush figure. Sigh. Little J mentioned–repeatedly–that … [Read more…]
